ERMELO (KNHS) – Saturday was the day of the individual medals during the FEI European Championships Dressage for Juniors and Young Riders. Dutch rider Lotje Schoots succeeded in winning her 10th golden medal in the youth competitions. The German Fabienne Lütkemeier won silver, followed by the second Dutch rider, Marrigje van Baalen who won bronze.
Lotje Schoots was riding Torricelli, a horse she fell for when he was 2 years old. “He was rather ugly at the time”, Lotje laughs, “but he moved in a way that I thought ‘That’s him’”. And indeed, it was the first time that Lotje was riding Torricelli during an European Championship but all of her tests were just great and incredibly harmonious.
The Dutch member of the jury, Ghislain Fourage resumes: “There was no discussion whatsoever about the three winners of the individual medals. Lotje Schoots was riding her test in utmost concentration. It looked very harmonious and she certainly mastered her nerves. The German Fabienne Lütkemeier was a very close runner-up. Her trot was excellent overall her performance was just a little bit less secure than that of Lotje. Marrigje van Balen was riding a very controlled and harmonious test and certainly earned her bronze medal.”
Starting on Sunday at 12 PM, the European Championships Dressage for Juniors and Young Riders will be concluded with the individual medals for the freestyle to music test. The best 15 riders of each age group will participate in the freestyle to music test. Results: 1. Lotje Schoots / Torricelli NETHERLANDS 74,474% 2. Fabienne Lůtkemeier / D´Agostino GERMANY 74,000% 3.
